DEANERY OF READING . DIOCESE OF OXFORD

Supporting our Church

Christ Church has been serving the community in Reading for over 150 years, adapting to changes in the local area but also continuing our Christian worship and heritage. To maintain and develop this work, the church relies on the support of its members to sustain the pattern of worship, serve the local community, and meet financial costs.

The idea of stewardship encourages all Christians to contribute to the life of the church as they are able to, according to their gifts and means.

The church receives no external funding (e.g. from the government) so is entirely reliant on fundraising and the support of its members to meet its expenses. It costs over £7,000 a month to run the church, including the costs of ministry and maintenance of our beautiful building.

As a church, we therefore encourage everyone who can to contribute to help the valuable work of the church can continue. If you are able to, please make a regular donation to Christ Church via standing order. If you are a UK taxpayer, please complete a Gift Aid declaration so that the church can claim an additional 25% on your donation.

It is also possible to make cash and card donations during or after services. If you make a regular standing order donation, you are welcome to take a yellow laminated card and place this in the collection plate to show that you give in this way.

Get involved

Please also consider how you might serve our church community, whether through getting involved in services (e.g. through leading prayers or welcoming people to the church), helping with the upkeep of the building (e.g. through flower arranging, cleaning, or working in the garden), or helping to lead social and community events. If you would like to get involved please contact the office or speak to a member of the church ministry team.
